The opening reception for “Incognition,” an exhibition introducing a series of abstract oil paintings by award-winning artist/author/illustrator David Shannon, presented by the South Pasadena Arts Council (SPARC), will be held Saturday, January 18, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the SPARC Chamber Gallery in South Pasadena.
For the past several years, Shannon has been working on a series of abstract oil paintings that explore “the increasingly irrational nature of contemporary culture. Ambiguity, formal disquiet, and multiple interpretations reflect the challenges in making sense of today’s world.” “Incognition” marks Shannon’s first individual show featuring these thought-provoking works.

“Incognition,” SPARC Chamber Gallery, January 13-February 28; opening reception, Saturday, January 18, 5-8 p.m. The SPARC Chamber Gallery is located inside the South Pasadena Chamber of Commerce at 1121 Mission Street. (Gallery hours vary; after the opening reception, it is suggested that you call the Chamber at (626) 441 2339 to confirm your visit.) Admission is free.
